PLEASE DONATE TO THE TILE MILE PROJECT

THE TILE MILE: Bonding With Neighbors

THE TILE MILE is a visionary undertaking with a humble approach. We want donors who understand sweat equity, creative innovation and direct action. We live in complicated times where building cross cultural connections and understanding one another more meaningfully is becoming increasingly difficult.  The increased influence of social media, propaganda, special interest groups, and a hostile political climate has increased tensions between the nations and neighbors alike.  So many people young people particularly feel lost, lack hope, and have suffered the fractures of human disconnection. I believe we can pull many of them back with purpose and creativity. This project holds space to do that.

People on the TILE MILE DREAM TEAM will transform the East Falls neighborhood into a plein-air workshop and living gallery space, skillfully constructing intricate works of art in an ongoing series of mosaic fabrication workshops. The TILE MILE beautification project is a model for bridging art and community development by making the business corridors more alluring (especially to pedestrians who can better appreciate such texture and detail as mosaic). We also educate young people about career opportunities related to the tile industry and pathways to related trades.

I view art as a humanitarian effort.  It begins with freedom of expression and the support from those who believe we will do something good with our Works . Our chaotic times call for ethical leadership to deliver the message that peace is possible through shared works and creative connection . Let’s Tile the Mile together and leave the road better than how we found it.
